How do you give something to God?

Over the years i have tried to give things over to him but i never know if i am doing it right or not. I trust him to do what is right and that he has awesome plans for me but even knowing what a great and faithful and wonderful God he is i still struggle with not being able to let things go.

any advice would be very much welcomed

Hi guest,

You've asked a question that pretty much everyone struggles with.

I want to come back to it again over the next day or two, but here's a thought to consider..

The Bible says that there is pleasure in sin - for a time. (Hebrews 11:25).

You might like to have a look at this passage of the Bible, because it contains a clue as to why we struggle to give up stuff.

(Copy and paste this address to go to Hebrews: http://www.tcata.com/bible/hebrews/11/)

I'll be back here again soon.

Hello again.

There are two clues found in Hebrews 11:25-26.

Clue 1. Moses made a choice. And this is the hard call for us. We don't 'have to' sin. We can choose to do/not do pretty much anything we want.

Clue 2. Moses considered the value of his options, and decided that the cause of Christ was worth far more than the 'pleasure' he was offered.

The stuff we struggle to give up comes about because we want it more than we want Jesus. We want immediate pleasure more than the future pleasure promised by Jesus.

It's hard often to make good choices, isn't it? If I offer a little boy an ice cream in one hand, and a hundred dollar bill in the other, he will be almost guaranteed to take the ice cream. Why? Because he hasn't grasped the fact that with the hundred dollar bill he could buy lots of ice creams. All he sees is a melting ice cream wanting to be eaten.

We choose second rate stuff for our lives because we don't yet appreciate how amazingly fantastic God is, and how awesome our future is going to be if we commit everything to him .

Hope this helps.

Lord bless

I believe that alot of the time we have genuinely let things go, but we need to remember that there is a Devil out there constantly looking for ways to make us fall. He will remind us of things we have let go and try to then make us feel guilty that we have not given it to God when really what we need to do is turn it back on him - tell him - "that Satan, is no longer an issue for me, I have given that to Jesus so if you want to talk about it and bring it up then go talk to Him about it!" I know this can be easier said then done but we need to remember that WE ARE OVER COMERS and Satan will do all he can to make us forget this!

Living like an overcomer can be hard - we are only human - but 'we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us' and like all things practice makes perfect!:)

Remember God is for us not against us and He WILL do all he can for us if we allow Him to and walk the path He has set before us. Im not sure it is a matter that we love the thing more then we love Jesus, but that we forget how strong we really are against the attacks of Satan, and that we will have to fight for our eternity on a daily basis, until Christ returns. (but its worth the fight)

Guest I would like to say put that LIE that you have not given something to Christ back on Satan - REFUSE to believe the guilt that he is laying on you, turn your eyes on Christ and believe with everything you have that you ARE an overcomer!:) and one day you will sit in the splendor of the King:)
