Hi there.

I have been away from my computer for some days, so please accept my apologies for missing your question.

To me, a good explanation of salvation is this: Getting back to where you're supposed to be.

If I get lost in the bush, for example, I am not where I'm supposed to be, and don't know how to get back. So when rescuers come searching, two things will hopefully happen. I get found and I get taken out of my 'lost' place.

So far as God is concerned, we all start our lives 'lost'. Being saved means that he rescues us and brings back to where we should be.

Trouble occurs in the bush situation, however, when the lost person refuses to accept that he/she is lost. Rescuers can do nothing in this situation.

It's the same with God. If we refuse to admit we are 'lost' from him, he can't do anything for us.

So...

1. We need to admit we are lost from any sort of relationship with God.
2. When he offers to rescue us and bring us back to a full relationship with him, we need to accept his offer.

There is a Bible verse that says this (Romans 10:9) If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

It really is this simple!

When you get sorted out with God, you will go to Heaven. That's God's promise.

A baby does really nothing towards its birth. Its Mum does all the work! But as it grows and let's itself be taught by its Mum and Dad and others, it will build a relationship with them.

So it is with God. He does pretty much all the work to enable us to be saved. We just have to let him do it. He then places the part of himself called the Holy Spirit inside us to build relationship with us and teach us more.

Being a child of God is great!

Thanks for asking.
