What the Bible says about Freemasonry

Freemasonry is proving to be a most controversial subject amongst Christians nowadays. Many Christians belong to a Freemasonry Lodge, and they claim that Freemasonry is harmless and can be attended without any detrimental effect upon their personal Christian lives.

Such claims need careful examination.

The first question needing answer, as we consider any such examination, is this:

What is Freemasonry?

Albert Pike, once 'Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of Grand Sovereign Inspectors General of the Thirty-Third Degree' (Freemasonry has many opportunities for 'promotion', called 'degrees'.) makes a most interesting statement in one of his books. He writes, 'Every Masonic Lodge is a temple of religion and its teachings are instructions in religion.'
(Pike, Albert, Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Supreme Council of the Thirty-Third Degree, Charleston, 1950, page 213.)

Freemasonry is therefore a religion, (although some still try to deny this), and as such has to own a deity of some sort. The Collins English dictionary defines religion as, 'belief in a superhuman power or powers to be worshipped.'

The Bible teaches that there are only two spiritual kingdoms operating over planet earth - the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan. The Kingdom of God has God as its master, the kingdom of Satan has Satan as its master. The two kingdoms are absolutely opposed in every way to each other. Matthew 12:22-37

The second question needing answer then, is this:

To which spiritual kingdom does Freemasonry belong?

Albert Mackey, once a thirty third degree Freemason, writes this in one of his books, 'The religion of Freemasonry is not Christianity'.
(Mackey, Albert, Mackey's Revised Encyclopedia of Freemasonry, Macoy Publishing, Richmond, VA., 1966, page 618)

Freemasonry refuses to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the only true Saviour and Lord. Christianity refuses to acknowledge any Saviour and Lord except Jesus. Romans 3:30, Acts 4:11-12

By a simple process of elimination, we are therefore compelled to arrive at one answer. The religion of Freemasonry must operate under Satan. Because the religion of Freemasonry is incompatible with Christianity it, by default, has to operate under the kingdom of Satan. There is no other choice. Matthew 12:30

Moreover, initiates beginning the journey into Freemasonry, face a ritual that is almost identical in content to the initiation oaths required for entry into the religion of Satanism. Freemasonry has though been much more successful in clothing itself with respectability and acceptability than witchcraft has. Because of this, it has in fact become a most dangerous deception.

But, you may say, I am only in this organization for the friendship and fun. Listen, please listen. In all matters pertaining to the law, ignorance of law is not accepted as a defence. We are held accountable whether or not we have learnt every legal requirement. Spiritual laws are just the same. Even ignorant or flippant participation in the things of Satan will one day be called to account by God. Matthew 12:36-37

Quite apart from the fact that Freemasonry is a religion, but is not the religion of Christianity, at least four more principles of Scripture are also violated by those who practice Freemasonry.

Principle 1 - Oath taking

Freemasons are not passive in the lodges to which they belong. Adherents actively and progressively continue through rituals within which they swear oaths and bind themselves to horrible punishments should they break those oaths. Scripture however, forbids the taking of oaths at all. Matthew 5:33-37, James 5:12

Principle 2 - Serving two masters

The Bible teaches that we have to serve one master or the other, but we cannot serve both. A very clear principle of Scripture is given in Matthew 6:24(NIV): 'No one can serve two masters.' Any man trying to run in both camps will fail. He can true to one, or the other, but not both.

Principle 3 - Responsibility

The Bible teaches that the husband is the head of his household, and his wife and children are under his spiritual covering. Ephesians 5:23, 1 Peter 3:7

Every member of Freemasonry who is therefore married, automatically places his wife and any children he may have under the covering of Satan. Remember that ignorance does not make for excuse. Laws, physical, legal or spiritual, operate and have effect whether or not we agree with them or even know about them.

Principle 4 - Consequences

The Bible teaches that the sins of fathers can be visited down as far as four generations of offspring. Exodus 20:1-6

So those involved in Freemasonry not only bring their own wives and children under the cruel hands of the devil, but commit generations as yet unborn to the sadistic bondage of demonic interference. Be reminded yet again that ignorance does not make for excuse. It is a frightening thought to understand that our actions can and do affect maybe dozens of descendants for the next hundred or more years.

And finally, the extensive experience of counsellors ministering in these areas has shown that bondages from past generational involvement in Freemasonry can and do have spiritual, mental and physical effects on even innocent descendants, sometimes even to the devastation of premature death.
